A degree in built Environments can open the door to a range of industries and there’s no better way to explore what areas you’re most interested than getting hands-on in the industry.
Our Project Day will allow you to work together on with Engineers, Surveyors, Architects and Project Managers to create a project that will evolve over the day.
Test your analytical and creative skills as you design a project that will evolve over the day; will your team be able to push through challenges and break down barriers to get your idea off the ground?
You’ll have loads of opportunities to ask questions! Our experienced staff and students will be on hand to assist you throughout your project.
Your challenge starts here! After a quick introduction to the staff and students that make up our Built Environment courses you’ll be set your challenge to fulfil a real design brief to satisfy a client.
It’s time to get working together in teams to collaborate and produce lots of ideas to get you started. You’ll put your heads together to formulate your initial design.
You’ll get a taster of who and what are needed for a building project as you develop on your best ideas.. But the built environment doesn’t always go to plan…
We’ll challenge your resilience and management-skills as we take you through some real-life scenarios that could happen meaning you and your team will need to adapt and overcome to make sure your project comes out on top!
After all that planning and progress it’s time to grab some food, take a breather and relax before the next session.
Built Environments embraces and combines the world of design, construction and management used in our everyday life.
From engineering to surveying and planning - we have the courses to give you a head start in the fields that you’re interested in.
This session will help you pick the right course and you’ll learn about the transferable skills and knowledge you’ll gain whilst studying at Portsmouth.
Our final workshop will see you and your team pulling all of your ideas together to finalise your final project after overcoming the challenging scenarios put to you.
We’ll make sure you’re presentation-ready to put all the skills you’ve learnt together. You’ll have to defend your decisions and receive valuable feedback to help you build a portfolio of your work.
