Navigating our virtual event
The technical bit
Our event is hosted on a series of web pages that offer a range of live webinars and chat booths, all of which are hosted in Zoom. These live activities are complemented by on-demand content that you can browse at your leisure.
To ensure you get the best experience from the event, we advise that you join using a desktop or laptop computer.
How does Zoom work?
Zoom is easy and intuitive to use. You don't need to register for an account or set up a profile to access our event. Simply click on the ‘Speak to us now in Zoom’ or ‘Join the live webinar’ link(s) and you’ll be taken into the relevant Zoom booth, where our teams or speakers will be waiting to meet you. You may find yourself in a waiting room, please just wait for our staff to let you in. This shouldn’t take more than a few minutes and allows our staff to wrap up their conversation with the previous visitor.
To engage with us, use your device's camera and microphone, or if you prefer, you can use the chat function to type your questions for us. You may be invited to join a breakout rooms for a one-to-one discussion. Zoom will generate instructions to follow in this scenario.
Frequently asked questions
Can I talk to someone about my course or research subject area?
Yes! If you're interested in one of our Master's courses, visit your Faculty Hub and one of the team will be able to answer your questions, or assign you a breakout room to chat one-to-one with your Course Leader.
Interested in a research degree? Call into the Research Degrees Hub where you'll meet a range of research staff and PhD students.
Which Faculty Hub do I need to visit?
To find a course representative, make your way to your Faculty Hub. If you’re unsure which of our five faculties your course sits in, call into our Help desk and we’ll confirm this for you. Alternatively, check the emails we sent you in the lead up to the event - we included it there.
Can I speak to a current Master's or PhD student?
Yes! Head into the Master's Student Hub or Research Degrees Hub, there you’ll meet a range of current Master’s and Research degree students, respectively.
How do I get info about student support and professional services?
You’ll find support teams like Student Finance, Housing and Careers at our Information Hub. They'll all be waiting to take your questions.
Are the live webinars being recorded?
Yes! We're recording all of the live webinars, they'll be made available as soon as possible for your to re-watch or catch up.
