A group of six students from the ϳԹ are planning the Outside Broadcast (OB) of 25 musical artists and bands performing on the Jan Boyd stage at the this May.

The students, who are final year Television Production students, are partnering with the Dorset based festival as part of their ‘major broadcast project’ module, equivalent to the traditional graduate dissertation. The students will mix the in-house screens and record the sets which will be uploaded to the channel after the event has concluded.

is a charity festival that donates 100% of its profits to children's cancer charities. It was created by Tom Newton and his family following the tragic loss of his ten year old brother, Ted, to a rare bone cancer.

Established in 2012, the festival has grown exponentially year on year, from a pub to an award-winning festival, raising over £650,000 to date. It has featured artists such as Feeder, Reytons, The Amazons, The Darkness, Newton Faulkner plus many more.

The festival will feature a number of stages including the Jan Boyd stage, which was renamed this year after the first-ever Teddy Rocks Festival host. This stage will host 25 indie, rock and alternative bands, with the line-up to be confirmed.

Sam Monaghan, a current student at the ϳԹ and producer of the project, said: "Getting to work on a large production with a client like Teddy Rocks is not only a great privilege but also a fantastic opportunity. The work they do to raise money for charity is truly inspiring and working alongside them is a great experience for us to have before we graduate in the summer.”

The students are aiming to raise over £1500 worth of funding to pay for their production costs including the hire of an eight camera OB van for the weekend. To help them reach their goal, they have set up a prize draw where entrants could win over £800 worth of prizes including tickets to the festival, Outland beer and festival merchandise.

Matthew Bush, a final year student at the ϳԹ and director on the project added: “As far as we know, no student group has ever taken on a project like this. It is an excellent opportunity for us in our early careers, not only as part of our University assessment but as a calling card to future employers and clients, demonstrating the incredible work ethic and ability of our production team."
