Summary

I am a Course Leader on the trainee Probation Officer programme. I primarily teach and support students on this distance learning course, which is part of the Probation Officer qualification framework (PQIP). I have also been module co-ordinator for L6 dangerous offenders and public protection, and L5 distance-learning youth crime modules. As part of the former, I supported students to undertake short-term Police (MAPPA) placements. I have also undertaken further undergraduate teaching on women who sexually offend and delivered post-graduate seminars on managing dangerous offenders. I am passionate about preventing male-perpetrated sexual violence against women and girls and this is my primary research interest. I am also interested in researching reflective practice and training within Probation.

Biography

I graduated from the ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï in 2010 with a BSc in Criminology and Criminal Justice. I practiced as a Probation Officer for 7 years and have specialisms in managing offenders subject to public protection measures including those convicted of terrorism and sexual offending, as well as the effective management of young adult offenders. I completed my MSc in Criminology & Criminal Justice in 2017 via distance learning with the ºÚÁϳԹÏ.

I worked in the Ministry of Justice headquarters in project management teams for the youth justice reform programme and then EU exit. I returned to Probation in 2019 and spent almost 2 years there as a Senior Probation Officer in MTC - Thames Valley Community Rehabiliation Company.
